Biograpy
Yixiao Cao is a Chinese multimedia artist, born 1987 in Sichuan, China. Now lives and works in Germany and China.
She received a BFA from China Academy of Fine Arts in 2010, from 2011 still now she studying in Kunstakademie Duesseldorf. Successive four years she received the annual scholarship from the China Academy of Art. She is known for her multimedia installations, videos and performances, and is as one of the artists of a new generation emerging from Mainland China. She mixes social commentary, references to Surrealism, and documentary conventions in her videos and performances, and combined effects of multmedia with modern dance, theater and opera elements. Her works reflect on the rapid and chaotic changes that are occurring in society today.
